History

Personal History		In late December 2373 Tabitha was the first child born to George and Judith Vale. Both her parents were teachers, her father holding the role of a Lecturer in Computer Science and her mother one of Music. When Tabitha was four years old her sister Sasha was born but when only weeks old the baby was diagnosed with Phoson Syndrome a life limiting condition. She died when Tabitha was nine. Although she had been aware and understood her sisters problems due to many careful but truthful explanations from her parents as the sisters grew up, losing Sasha had been a traumatic time for Tabitha who worried a great deal about her mother. .Her father engaged a counsellor mainly for her mothers sake but Billie as she preferred to be called, also spent time with Tabitha playing games and chatting to her. Years later Tabitha would realise what had been happening and decided that if possible she would like to learn the skills the counsellor had used. The choice though between a medical career or counselling was difficult to make. Medicine won. She was accepted into Starfleet Medical School in 2386 and in her second year, met her soon to be husband Phil Henderson. They married soon after graduation. Both were assigned to Starbase 23, known to many as Serenity simply because there was nothing serene about it. Tabitha took a while to become accustomed to the busy and sometimes hectic life there before she could relax into her new regime. Phil though had no problems adapting and occasionally teased her about it. During the late summer of 2398 Tabitha re-met an instructor from the Academy who arrived on the base. She had attended a few of his counselling lectures after which the two formed a friendship.When he moved on to a different starbase they kept in touch from time to time. At the end of the Winter Festival 2400 , Tabitha and Phil's marriage ran into trouble leading to him asking for a transfer to a starship, This came through on the first day of February 2401. On Frontier Day a matter of weeks later and. a particularly prestigious occasion on the 250th anniversary of the Federation being formed, Phils ship USS Horus was one of hundreds attacked by the Borg. In October of that year Tabitha was transferred to Outpost 915.
