History
| Personal History | Freya was born on November 6th, 2376, the second child and only daughter to loving parents, Helene and Gerald Sandison. Her brother Tom is four years older. The family grew up in a quaint village in the Périgord region of France, spending many happy holidays with their maternal grandmother, Grandmère Sylvie, in her somewhat dilapidated but charming small chateau. It was Grandmère Sylvie who instilled a deep love and appreciation for wildlife in all its forms into her grandchildren during their visits. From a young age, Freya showed artistic talent, excelling in painting and sketching the natural beauty around her. She was an average student academically but worked diligently and achieved satisfactory results. While not the greatest scholar, her determination and hard work allowed her to gain entrance to Starfleet Academy four months after her 18th birthday. Freya's decision to join Starfleet was not an easy one and initially caused consternation for her parents, who had envisioned her pursuing a career in the arts. However, her brother Tom understood her inner desire to explore new worlds and experience the vastness of the galaxy, and he wholeheartedly supported her choice. Leaving her family and the familiar surroundings of her idyllic childhood was a wrench for Freya, but it was a sacrifice she was willing to make to fulfill her dreams of adventure and discovery. While she occasionally felt pangs of homesickness, she never regretted her decision to join Starfleet. To Freya's delight, her first posting after graduating from the Academy was aboard Starbase 417, a bustling hub of activity and a central point for many exploratory missions. In 2401, she was then assigned to Outpost 915 on Arendis Prime, a Federation-Romulan frontier world with a diverse biosphere and unique botanical life. This new posting allowed her to indulge her passion for exploring and documenting the wonders of nature. Despite the challenges of adapting to life in Starfleet and the demands of her duties, Freya found solace in her artistic pursuits, capturing the wonders of the cosmos and the diverse lifeforms she encountered through her sketches and paintings. |
